Below are the instructions for returning the BRD Bin with large Lithium batteries. Note only lithium batteries greater than 12kg are permitted to be transported in the BRD Bin. Our packaging instructions for the BRD can be found here.
DG Labels
The BRD Bin is delivered with the necessary DG Label supplied in an A4 Doculope attached on the front and rear of the BRD Bin. An example of what the DG Labelling should look like can be downloaded here.
DG Transport Documentation
The Australian Code for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by road & rail (ADGC) requires DG Transport Documentation to be provided with the shipment. This may be generated by your freight providers portal when creating the freight documentation such as the example below using Centurion Transport’s portal:

The ADGC’s requirements for the DG Documentation are as follows:
- Carried in the vehicle in hard copy form.
- The documentation must include the name and address of the consignor, consignee, including the consignor’s contact telephone number.
The following information must be included to describe the dangerous good type and quantity:
- UN Number – * See below
- Proper Shipping Name – * See below
- DG Class – 9
- Packing Group – is not applicable as batteries are defined as Articles in the ADGC
- Description of Packages – Plastic Box
- The number of each type of package
- The Gross Aggregate Quantity of Dangerous Good – Record the gross weight of batteries (including other chemistries)
Note: The tare weight of the BRD Bin is 35kg. Each bag of CellblockEX contains 13kg of granules. So if the gross weight of the BRD Bin being returned is 500kg and all 3 bags of CellblockEX have been used, then the DG quantity of batteries is 426kg (500-35-3x13kg).

- UN3480 – Lithium Ion Batteries (including lithium polymer batteries)
- UN3481 – Lithium Ion Batteries Contained in Equipment or Packed with Equipment
- UN3090 – Lithium Metal Batteries (including lithium polymer batteries)
- UN3091 – Lithium Metal Batteries Contained in Equipment or Packed with Equipment
Record a separate entry for each type of Lithium battery present (e.g. UN3480, 3481, 3090, 3091)
Other Transport Details
When transporting Battery Rescue’s BRD, the following additional information will also be required for your transportation documentation.
- The dimensions of the box are 120L x 100W x 74H cm,
- Gross weight of the BRD Bin
- Specify the return address as:
